Well a lot of Indian do well abroad. But only a few reach the level these guys have. These guys have carved a niche for themselves in whichever field they went in. And are now making us proud.
Here is a list of 11 people who are doing really in a foreign land. It’s not an exhaustive list though. There are many-many more.
- Indra Nooyi
This IIMC alumni is the present Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo. She is considered one of the World’s 100 most powerful women.
- Laxmi Mittal
An Indian steel magnet, based in London. He is the chairman and CEO of Arcelor Mittal. Presently he is the 82nd richest man in the world.
- Amartya Sen
An Indian economist and philosopher, he was awarded Nobel Prize for economics in 1998, and Bharat Ratna in 1999. He is presently a professor at Harvard University.
- Salman Rushdie
He is a British Indian novelist and essayist. His 2nd novel won the Booker Prize in 1981. Most of his fiction is based on the Indian subcontinent.
- Sunita Williams
She is an American astronaut and US navy officer. She holds the records for longest single space flight by a woman
- Anshuman Jain
This SRCC alumni is presently the co-CEO of Deutsche Bank.
- Vikram Pandit
He is an ex-chief executive of Citigroup, a position which he held from 2007-2012. Presently he is based in US.
- Jagdish Bhagwati
Presently he is a professor of economics and law at Columbia University. Based in US, he is a strict advocate of free trade.
- Sant Singh Chatwal
He is an Indian American businessman, who became a US citizen in 1994. He was awarded Padma Bhushan in the year 2010.
- Hinduja Brothers
Based in Britain, the Hinduja brothers are considered one of the most powerful Asians of the 20th century.
- Manoj Bhargava
The US based Bhargava is the founder and CEO of 5-hour Energy, a company which markets energy shot. He is considered one of the wealthiest Indian in US.
